Job Title: Agriculturalist. Location: FarmED, Shipton-under-Wychwood, West Oxfordshire. OX7 6BJ Contract: Full time. Permanent (with 6 months probation period). Salary: £34,000 - £40,000 Reports to: General Manager. About FarmED FarmED is a pioneering education centre and demonstration farm promoting regenerative agriculture and sustainable food systems. Committed to inspiring, educating, and equipping farmers, food producers, business leaders, NGO’s, policymakers, educators and communities with the knowledge and skills needed to build resilient, sustainable and regenerative farming practices. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Agriculturalist to increase the impact of the work at FarmED. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with a passion for regenerative agriculture, hands-on farming experience, and a proven track record in leading educational or outreach initiatives. Working alongside our Agricultural Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our demonstration farm, deliver educational programmes, and engage with diverse stakeholders to promote sustainable farming practices. Key Responsibilities • Engagement & Advocacy: Represent FarmED at conferences, events, and in the media, delivering talks and presentations on regenerative agriculture and its benefits. • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, researchers, educators, and community organisations to further FarmED’s mission. • Securing Long Term Relationships: Seek out relevant organisations that can benefit from FarmED’s expertise and facilities. • Educational Programme Delivery: Lead engaging farm walks, workshops, talks and hands-on training sessions for visitors, including students, farming professionals and groups from the food, finance, environmental and governmental sectors. • Research & Innovation: Support ongoing research projects related to soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable farming practices, and integrate findings into farm operations and educational content. • Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, mentor, and support farm staff, interns, and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment. Key Qualifications and Skills • Extensive Farming Experience: At least 15 years of hands-on experience in mixed farming systems, with a strong emphasis on regenerative agriculture and environmental management. • Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience in leading teams, managing farm operations, and delivering successful agricultural projects. • Educational & Public Speaking Skills: Strong ability to communicate complex agricultural concepts in an engaging and accessible way to diverse audiences. • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to think strategically and creatively to drive the growth and impact of FarmED’s programmes. • Passion for Regenerative Agriculture: Deep understanding of regenerative farming practices, soil health management, biodiversity enhancement, and sustainable food systems. • Flexibility & Adaptability: Capable of working in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities, and adapting to evolving challenges. Additional Responsibilities • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of FarmED’s long-term strategic goals, focusing on expanding educational programmes, research initiatives, and partnerships. • Financial Oversight: Assist in budgeting, financial planning, and securing funding for farm projects and educational initiatives. • Programme Development: Participate in the creation of new educational and outreach programmes, workshops, and events that align with FarmED’s mission to promote regenerative agriculture. • Policy Influence: Engage with policymakers and stakeholders to advocate for regenerative farming practices and influence agricultural policy. • Farm Management & Operations: Alongside our Agricultural Lead oversee all aspects of FarmED’s mixed farming enterprises, including livestock, arable and agroforestry ensuring alignment with regenerative agriculture principles. • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all farm activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations. • Data Collection and Reporting: Monitor farm performance and report to the FarmED team. Monitor visitor numbers and report to the management team. Desirable Skills • Experience with agroforestry, permaculture, or other innovative sustainable farming systems. • Background in agricultural research, data analysis, and impact measurement. • Previous experience in non-profit, educational, or community outreach settings. • Strong network within the regenerative agriculture community.
